Fiberglass Mortar Tubes 1.92"x12.5"

1.92" nominal inside diameter x 12.625" long (approx). Approximately 1/8" wall thickness with a fiberglass resin plug in the bottom. Weighs appromixately .5 pound per tube.

If you are using a capacitive discharge firing system or a higher voltage firing system it may cause the igniter wire to heat-up and burn out so quickly (a fraction of a second) that it doesn't have time to actually ignite the visco fuse. Try nipping the fuse halfway through its thickness and attach the igniter at that point. Then try firing the igniter. This usually solves any ignition problems as nipping the fuse exposes the inner core of the visco and allows easier lighting.

Today Sky lanterns are everywhere, they are very popular today especially seen in ceremonies, anniversaries and monumental events. Most of the time, they are embraced because of their enchanting beauty and radiance hence they are an easy option in lighting up events. Several years ago, this was not the reason of their use, different people groups had their beliefs and superstitions as to what these lanterns meant or what their presence signified.

Sky lanterns represented a different significance in time past to different tribes, nationalities and ethnic groups. Originating in Asia, they were first seen as an indispensable military tool, needed in signalling distress and calls for relief. The belief hence is that such appearances were a tool to communicate and thus ask or receive help. The Chinese military found this helpful in that era as a communicating tool. As time progressed, non military use was created for this object and a deeper superstitious significance attached to it as an indispensable tool in Chinese festivals.

In other Asian people groups like the Thais had a different use to this. In certain areas in Taiwan, like the Pingshi, they were besieged by robbers and murderers and passage into this area became almost impossible. People needed to know how well their friends and family were, the remote kind of sky lanterns were lit and as others saw them from where they were, they knew there friends were safe and had not fallen prey to the bandits and murderers. Hence for this group, lighting up a lantern meant, ‘We are Safe, unharmed and untouched\'.

The Vietnamese see it yet as something more significant and an indispensable ritual material. This is evident in their festivities and celebrations where these lanterns are lit and children carry them to exhort the deities to the earth. It is believed that these sky lanterns must be a vital object in the procession and entourage of these deities, it is also believed that these lanterns ‘clear the way\' by spiritually cleansing the route of evil spirits.

The Thais also believe that releasing sky lanterns into the skies is symbolic of a new dispensation; a period where the problems and worries that had beguiled them were drifting. It was an act signifying that bad luck, bad fortune were going away and the good spirits who were responsible for bringing good fortune, prosperity and bountiful harvest were being ushered in. They also believe that protection was the lot of all those who honoured these festivities and such rituals.

In the Western environment however, these sky lanterns stand a different significance. Though they are mainly utilised as ornaments of beauty and splendour, spicing up weddings, ceremonies, anniversaries and landmark events, some superstition is also attached to their use. In the course of the celebrations, the guests are asked to make wishes and say prayers of good will and blessings for the near future more like borrowing a leaf from the ancient set-up and traditional use for these lanterns.

Sky Lanterns offer much more than just embossing functions. All through the years, various people groups have with their superstitious beliefs, thrived while using these lanterns, nowadays, we can but utilise them for our personal objectives.
